Guard Your Heart

Proverbs 4:23
Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.

It was never our Father’s intention for his children to be robots but he wanted us to love him freely. This free will plays a big part in our lives and the outcomes we see. This brings me to my thought for today which was inspired by my Father.

Guard your heart with all diligence. Your heart is very precious and it must be protected. Now, I am not saying that you should build a military fort around your heart and not let anyone in. To love you must be open to people who have shown themselves worthy of that place. At the same time, realize that even the people closest to you will not always fulfill your expectation. At this moment, there are very close friends that will choose to be your enemy by the end of 2011.

We cannot control what people do, but we CAN choose how we will react to them. Guard your heart and keep bitterness away. Choose to forgive and even love your enemies, as Jesus told us to do. That doesn’t mean that you have to remain best friends with someone who is obviously out to hurt you. You can remove them from your life but still release them, forgive them and love them in your heart. Never wish ill against them or speak badly about them. Let them go and allow God to be the judge of their actions.

This will keep you in the “blessing zone” because there will be no hindrance stopping the blessing of God in your life. The word of God even tells us that if we know a brother has an issue against us, leave our offering and go make it right.

A loving and forgiving heart is a healthy heart. It will bring long life to you.  I am sure we are all interested in that.
